Objective To explore the clinical effect of Leihuo moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy for the treatment of sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease (SPID) in qi stagnation with blood stasis type. Methods A total of 65 SPID patients in qi stagnation with blood stasis type were randomly divided into observation group (33 cases) or control group (32 cases). The observation group received Leihuo moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy for treatment, while the control group received simple Leihuo moxibustion for treatment. Both groups received 2 courses of treatment. The scores of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scale and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were compared between patients of the two groups before treatment, after the first and second courses of treatment. The occurrence of adverse reactions was recorded after the second course of treatment. Results After the first and second courses of treatment, patients of the two groups obtained lower total score of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome scale, primary syndrome total score, and secondary syndrome total score as compared with before treatment; furthermore, the aforementioned indices of the two groups were lower after the second course of treatment than after the first course of treatment (P<0.05). The observation group interpreted lower total score of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome scale, and primary syndrome total score as compared with the control group after the first and second courses of treatment (P<0.05). The observation group exhibited lower anxiety score, depression score after the second course of treatment as compared with before treatment and after the first course of treatment, as well as with the control group (P<0.05). No adverse reaction was reported in both groups. Conclusion Leihuo moxibustion combined with five elements music therapy can effectively ameliorate Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes in SPID patients in qi stagnation with blood stasis type; moreover, its effects on ameliorating anxiety and depression of patients are superior to simple Leihuo moxibustion therapy, exerting favorable safety.
