Objective To understand the status and influencing factors of HIV infected individuals and concomitant syphilis in Haikou. Methods A total of 1553 HIV infected individuals receiving treatment in Haikou Institute of Dermatology, Venereal Disease and Psychiatry from 2012 to 2023 were screened as the research subjects. The baseline information such as demographic characteristics, route of transmission, baseline CD4+ T lymphocyte counts of the research subjects was collected. The Logistic regression model was employed to analyze the influencing factors for HIV infected individuals and concomitant syphilis. Results A total of 835 (53.8%) cases received syphilis examination while confirming as HIV infection among 1553 HIV infected individuals receiving treatment from 2012 to 2023, therein 257 (30.8%) cases suffered from concomitant syphilis while screening. The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that HIV infected individuals aged 30-<40 years and 40-<50 years (compared with individuals aged <20 years) when confirming as HIV infection, with homosexual behavior as route of HIV transmission (compared with individuals with heterosexual behavior as route of HIV transmission), and with HBsAg positive (compared with individuals with HBsAg negative) were easily concomitant syphilis, whereas HIV infected individuals with other screening methods to find HIV (compared with individuals through hospital screening to find HIV) had lower risk of concomitant syphilis (P<0.05). Conclusion The syphilis screening rate of HIV infected individuals in Haikou is not high from 2012 to 2023, but the incidence rate of syphilis is high. For HIV infected individuals, especially population aged 30-<50 years, with concomitant HBsAg positive, and having homosexual behavior, is needed to detect syphilis while confirming as HIV infection, and to treat in time.
