Objective To investigate the effect of rope band therapy combined with sensory integration training for the treatment of children with sensory integration dysfunction (SID). Methods A total of 60 SID children were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into conventional group or rope band group using the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The conventional group received conventional sensory integration therapy, based on which the rope band group received additionally rope band therapy. The course of treatment was 2 months for both groups. The scores of the Children Sensory Integration Rating Scale, the Conners Children Behavioral Questionnaire, and the Berg Balance Scale were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results After 2 months of treatment, the vestibular function dimension score, proprioception dimension score, learning ability dimension score, and total score of the Children Sensory Integration Rating Scale, as well as the total score of the Berg Balance Scale, were higher than those before treatment in both groups, and the above indicator scores in the rope band group were higher than those in the conventional group; furthermore, the tactile defensiveness dimension score of Children Sensory Integration Rating Scale in the rope band group was higher than that before treatment and that in the conventional group (P<0.05). After 2 months of treatment, the scores of the learning problems factor, impulsivity⁃hyperactivity factor, and anxiety factor of Conners Children Behavioral Questionnaire were lower than those before treatment in both groups, and the scores of conduct problems factor, psychosomatic disorders factor, and hyperactivity index factor of Conners Children Behavioral Questionnaire in the rope band group were also lower than those before treatment; furthermore, the scores of the learning problems factor, psychosomatic disorders factor, anxiety factor, and hyperactivity index factor of Conners Children Behavioral Questionnaire in the rope band group were lower than those in the conventional group (P<0.05). Conclusion Rope band therapy combined with sensory integration training can improve sensory integration ability, behavioral problems, and balance function in SID children.
