Healthy aging is an effective measure for society to address population aging. The “14th Five⁃Year Plan” for Healthy Aging emphasizes the need to synergistically advance the Healthy China strategy and the national strategy for actively responding to population aging, continuously meet the health needs of the elderly, and steadily improve their health standards. Elderly healthcare nursing personnel play a critical role in meeting the multi⁃level health demands of the elderly population, increasing the supply of human resources in the elderly care service industry, and expanding social employment opportunities. However, there is currently a significant shortage of elderly healthcare nursing personnel, along with issues such as an imbalanced workforce structure and varying levels of professional competence. These problems are primarily due to factors such as low salaries and benefits, low professional recognition, limited career development opportunities, high work pressure, and insufficient systematic on⁃the⁃job training. Based on these, it is recommended to increase the number of elderly healthcare nursing personnel and improve the service quality of the workforce by enhancing salaries and benefits, strengthening incentive mechanisms, optimizing career development pathways, improving training systems, expanding professional influence, and fostering a stronger sense of professional identity.
