Objective To investigate the current status of fertility stress in infertile patients undergoing in vitro fertilization⁃embryo transfer (IVF⁃ET) and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 542 infertile patients who received IVF⁃ET treatment at a reproduction hospital in Guangxi and voluntarily participated in this study were selected as the research subjects. They were surveyed using a general information questionnaire and the fertility stress scale. Univariate and multiple linear regression methods were adopted to analyze the influencing factors for fertility stress in IVF⁃ET infertile patients. Results The total score of the fertility stress scale in IVF⁃ET infertile patients was 156.32±25.57, therein the dimension scores were as follows: social pressure 32.74±6.62, sexual pressure 23.90±6.13, marital relationship 33.51±6.99, rejection of a childfree lifestyle 26.93±6.95, and demand for parenthood 39.25±8.36. Multiple linear regression analysis results revealed that educational level, monthly household income of the couple together, type of family residence, and duration of infertility treatment were influencing factors for the level of fertility stress in infertile patients undergoing IVF⁃ET (P<0.05). Conclusion The level of fertility stress is relatively high in infertile patients undergoing IVF⁃ET, and this level is influenced by educational level, monthly household income of the couple together, type of family residence, and duration of infertility treatment. It is recommended that medical and nursing personnel develop personalized intervention strategies based on clinical practice to reduce fertility stress in infertile patients undergoing IVF⁃ET.
